MASAKA VISIT

Me and Sam headed off to Masaka for a two day visit to meet with two existing projects and look for new partners we could work with. Day 1 was a small encouragment and empowering training and some fun and games with the street kids of Cro. Day 2 we got the chance to visit all the 6 projects two of which we are already working with and the other 4 with huge potential. God guided us to projects that were already running active which KSM can just come in and help better equip there leaders. exciting times.

Reaching Children Retoration Outreach centre we had little time due to massive rain delays but finally we got into some parachute with around 30 children and 10 leaders from 6 different christian organisations. Cro is a street kids organisation so was hard work keeping them under control but with the help of some "press-ups" the children started to fully enjoy there day.

Encouraging time with all the leaders after games where i was able to share with them and encourage them to continue working hard for Christ. Was great to here there responses of excitment in the future of sports ministry in Masaka we pray our visit drives them on.

There are many things in my time in Uganda which amaze me  but this has to be in my top five. Me and Sam got the chance to visit a disability school deep in Masaka where all the children are ever completly deaf or have little hearing. There sports teacher was also completly deaf, using a drum for the warm up as the children could feel the beat, it was so creative. Then seeing all the children humbal themselves in pray as one bot aroun13 prayed in Sign language. I'm already excited about going back to help there leaders in new games to do with there children time for me to read my books and learn.

SHOWING REAL COMMITTMENT

You might have heard me talk about "Army of God Kawaala" before, being KSM latest project and one of the most challenging for the leaders due to the distances they have to walk to get from work to the project. They have just stepped up again keep surprising me more and more. From now on every other Thursday after work 5-6.30 i will be doing sports Coaching with them close to there church.

We started yesterday with 8 leaders out of 10 showing up which was a great start. Kicked of with them leading there own warm-up, i want them to get a sense of organisation so gave them the task of doing there own warm-up before each sports session so by the time i reach we can start sports straight away. We went into some individual and team tail games, then netball and ending in flag football.

Looking forwards to getting into some hockey, lacrosse and even tennis over the next couple weeks.

Lunyo Children’s Centre Entebbe

Lunyo children’s centre is based in Entebbe district. Lunyo has a primary school which holds 210 children who are ever orphans or very deprived children and is doing sports ever Wednesday and Friday from 9-10am with these children. Myself and Sam Oyirwoth KSM head volunteer went to check them out and see how KSM can further work with them. They have been using life-skills to teach the gospel to the children in the past and have great skills in teaching them through parachute games. Having 15 active sports leaders is a great starting block for me and my team to get stuck in. The Future is bright in Entebbe.

James Wald Returns

My good American friend is back in Uganda for a couple of weeks looking to the future for the missionary base up in North Uganda and a safari resort on the River Nile at Murchison Falls National park best in Uganda. It is great to have him back over here crashing at my flat. Always encourages me to see how God is using him, from the last time we met he had such a huge vision and now to see how God has just made it happen is amazing.

Testimonies of Key Volunteers

Jonah Okiru

Is the sports leader at Calvary Chapel Kampala, he has been working alongside me in a number of events throughout the year. Jonah started as a young enthusiastic boy and has grown into a strong leader pushing his boundaries to new level. Last CCK street kid’s sports outreach on 25th September, the small Jonah lead with authority and stature when organizing his team and keeping the crazy rabble of street kids controlled. I have all the confidence that Jonah will be a huge part of KSM future.

Ezra Mwaugwo
Is the leader of AOGM which is under the care of Miss. Mable Tusabmu. Starting up the project has been hard for him as it is based around a small church with less than 40 people in attendance most of the leaders involved in the sports need to work very hard just to make enough money to survive. But Ezra has continued to flight to create a sports ministry through AOGM. Last Saturday 25th September they had 10 leaders 150 children at there outreach proof of there continuing growth. (right side in picture).

Francis Natumanya
Is the leader of Child Evangelism Fellowship (in Mbarara District) a partner organization to KSM. He was trained by KSM in March and sense then has been leading the line of exceptional Sports Ministry. Francis is a great example of a leader who we have trained and is putting what he learnt into action.
