Tomorow's Heroes

Tomorrow's Heroes is a new ministry working with street children in Kivulu a slum in the heart of Kampala. It has been started up by Kate Dodds who has been working with these children in Kivulu for over 10 months now. The program used to run on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of the slum with limited space or facilities to run a meaningful program. Then God opened up a door through a connection i had with a church on the edge of Kivulu called Deliverance Church. With the new name decided by the kids "Tomorrow's heroes" in place, fantastic facilities of a play area, classrooms and shower rooms everything is set. This past Sunday Kate and her team held their first outreach at the new spot with 75 street children coming along an amazing turnout for the first time. all the kids split into small groups ready and willing to change their lives. Please but this new ministry in your prayers that it will grow and flourish to become a way for street children in Uganda to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour

Pictures above: Jude on the left giving some of the kids a haircut, on the right my and Jonah leading the bible talk on "Three Stands are better than One" and below Ashley leading her group the
"Tigers" in their small group time.

HOW GOD IS USING ME TO REACH THE GIRLS AT RAHAB UGANDA

Last Week I told you about Rahab Uganda, a ministry working with girls who have been abused. Well yesterday i went back to the home for the weekly sports ministry session with the girls. We were focusing on Leadership with 3 of the girls about to go to University it was such a relevent topic which they opened upto so well. I have bult a bond wth the girls now that has made them relaxed around me. As they shared some of the difficulties of there past with people telling them what to do and this leading to abuse. We looked at them being the example, taking a step in the right direction and being a leader like Jesus, as it talks about in John 13:1-20 Jesus leads by example and surves the dispiles by washing their feet and Moses a great leader in the bible who even when he did wrong God used him and his trust in God lead to the Isralitmes becomgin free from Eygypt. Being around these girls builds me up and reminds me why i am in Uganda to make a difference in the lives of children through sports.

The Leaders have grasp how to use sports to
reach these girls and are now
thriving in this Ministry.

Uganda Elections: Campaining with a difference

View from my flat of the election campaigns
with hundreds of people watching.

Well the Uganda Elections are around the corner. And all the pollination's are doing there best to be recognised and get the votes. Picture above shows how hundreds of people are happy to leave there work and watch some dancing and entertainment put on by a politician wanting to be the next mayor of Kampala. Instead of telling the people who he is going to improve the city and create a much better livelihood for the people. he brings in some dancers to well dance for hours on end. Ugandan Politics Fantastic.

Reaching the Needy

There Mission is to restore the self image of girls affected by sexual exploitation and empower them for personal and community transformation.

I got involved with them through a connection to there staff, who invited me to come and introduce to the sports Ministry. On reaching the Centre i found a large compound and home for 15 girls aged 17-20. And met the 4 leaders who where excited about being trained. You know somtimes when you go to a place with little expectations and then just get blown away, thats exactly what happened.

Over the past week and two sports session later the 4 leaders have taken over, they applied for the equipment loan scheme and have now started using our equipment for the games. Looking fowards to my next session on Tuesday next week, and see what the leaders have got planned for us to do. The door has been opened.
