THE WORLD FAMOUS KASUBI TOMBS WERE LAST NIGHT BURNT DOWN

A sad day for all Buganda People as last night the tombs of the former king's of Buganda Burnt down.

Buganda is the main tribe of Central Uganda and the Capital City Kampala. These days Kingdoms are not as much in control of the country but the people are still very passionate about there culture with the kabaka the King of Buganda today stil an important part of the people.

Situated on a hill within Kampala, the site is an active religious place in buganda Kingdom.

As a burial fround for four kins, it is a religious centre for the royal family, a place where the Kabaka and representatives frequently carry out rituals.

It is also an outstanding example of traditional Ganda architecture and an excpetional testimony of the living ganda traditions. For Uganda the site represented an important symbol of its history and culture. The tombs were listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2001.

The police were alerted about the fire at 8.50pm. However, attempts by fire brigade to reach the site were hampered by a riotous crowd.

Please pray that there is peace in Kampala over the next couple of days as police try to find out what happened, with it being such an important symbol for Buganda this could lead to angry riots which wouldnt be good for Uganda.
