St Francis Chapel Final Sports Sunday of 2010

Over the last year St Francis Chapel has become a force to recon with when it comes to Hold Sports Sunday. Once in a Qtr their Sunday school goes sports crazy where they gather the children and go through the KSM model. Of course in all projects there are adjustments St Francis doesn’t have a huge space which is a viable for sports but have a small grass area and a huge indoor hall. They started with around 350 children and have massively increased with this past Sunday 500 children over the three services amazing. Last Sunday we had great fun, they gave me football to teach at the 11am service with around 40 kids which u can see above.

Planning to do some coaching with their 20 strong team of volunteers early next year to equip them in new games they can do with their children. Exciting times.

Thanks Giving 2010

Thanksgiving was a holiday to express thankfulness, gratitude, and appreciation to God, family and friends for which all have been blessed of material possessions and relationships ( wikapidia).

As a true half blood America i have always been found of the triditional American holiday which is this thursday 25th Nov (i think lol). A few peeps were busy this Thursday so we decided to hold it last Saturday at a full blood Americans house. In true Ugandan style it was only right that us American gather togther and celebrate this with the triditional Turkey (thanks to Ryan and his Popps) mashed potatos, vege, gravy sodas and more (from the host brandie) and fruit and dessert from myself and and the rest of the peeps. happy to say there was also some N Irish and four ugandans joing us Americans. Was a great evening lookforwards to it again next year.

World Vision & Compassion Internation Partnership Proposals

Blog & Donation update:, world vision and compassion International partnerships, thanks giving, St Francis, update finances so far, create pyramid

I have been give the amazing task of drawing up 7 page Partnership Proposals for both World Vision & Compassion International. Both organisations are huge in Uganda and do some fantastic work with thousands of children all across Uganda. My hope is by partnering with such organisations in the area of sports we can boost our work 10 fold.

The aim is to train equip and build up sports ministry projects with all ready established bases that both world vision and compassion international have. As they are strong in the areas of teaching and developing children these projects would be hugely sustainable and effective in the long run.

KSM is already working with some Compassion projects which are going well so we hope to be able to expand throughout Kampala and Central districts with sports Ministry.

Please pray for these proposals that favour will fall upon them as we look at which direction to go next.

P.A. SYSTEM: NEW PLAN

So we have had a Income generating scheme the P.A. System for quite some time now and has been a strong to get into the market as it has become a popular thing and competition is tough.

Time for a new plan:

Our P.A. System marketing officer Sam Oyirwoth some of you might know hi also is the head of volunteers in KSM have worked on a new plan. Along with great advice from our board and country director Emmanuel, Sam is holding a promotional offer for the next two months. Hiring the whole P.A. System out for 150,000 shillings per day. He has been venturing around to 10 hotels and church's to build partnerships with them, so if they have any functions, weddings, wedding meeting (basically where people raise support for their wedding) ect... the hotels or church's can tell the clients they have a P.A. System to hire MEANING KSM.

The idea sounds good we just need to make sure we get out there fast and strong, sell the idea and get our selves know. Please pray with us as we try to reach out to places with this deal in order to raise money for KSM.

Rain, Lacrosse & a Small Church

Yesterdays coaching session at KSM Kawaala was very interesting. It started to rain on my way there so had to hide under a petrol station until it stopped on reaching the church (picture above) no one was there yet due to the rain lol. Around 30 minutes latter 6 of the leaders turn up fighting the rain. The door was open and we played lacrosse in a tiny dark Village style church "love it" much fun, except for the amount of balls that hit my face due to a all round lack of skill and i was suppost to be the coach lol

That is defiantly what we call adapting sports to the environment Yessssssssssssssss.

Project Leaders Training and AGM

The 2nd & 3rd of November we had a great time during our Project Leaders Training and AGM.

Project Leaders Training
KSM has now 15 Project leaders and once again it was the time of year to bring them all together in Kampala to empower them further in Sports Ministry. The training last over two days with both presentations and sports coaching being applied. Was great to have new faces added to the team from around the country. Myself, Emmanuel, Richard & Matt all lead different parts of the training which was great for the leaders to get teachings from a variety of people. Also great for the project leaders as they all slept at the same hotel so got to spend time with each other here each other stories and learn from the different experience.

Annual General Meeting

Once in the year comea around our AGM a time for us to reflect on the past year and look to the future. Was a great oppertunity for the volunteers to share with the leadershhip of KF & KSM plus the KSM board all that has been happening with them throughout the past year. Plus for use all to here from Richard Homes the KF Director

Massive thankyou to the KSM Staff for working so hard to make these two days work so well.

KSM Kawala Just Grows and Grows

                               Do you remember this guy?

"UK Mr Motivator"                                "Uganda Mr Motivator"

This past Saturday I had the chance to get to two outreach projects. In the morning was KSM Calvary Chapel, which as usual was doing great these days it is no longer me giving instructions but the leaders of the project to me what to do :). Then in the afternoon I headed to KSM Kawaala, on reaching the church the 10 leaders were already doing final preparations (which is great as they usually wait for me) wonderful to see them taking the initiative. We reached the field to where there were 125 children from two different schools and the community were waiting. This was also my first time to see the “UG Mr Motivator” in action a nicknamed I gave him due to his fantastic aerobic style warm-up, enthusiasm and canny look a like of the guy himself.
The children broke up into groups playing netball, football and parachute then ending with a fun lively sit-down on Obeying God. KSM Kawaala has grown massively over the past 3 months but they want to grow even more, so every other Thursday of the month I head over to Kawaala after work to equip them in more coaching and life-skills knowledge. Kawaala also has huge plans drawn up already for 2011 cant wait.

Take a look at the video below to see more of Saturday’s projects and Mr Motivator.
